World Polio Day is just around the corner and it’s time to kick off the 2021 Dunkin’ Purple Pinkie Day Polio Fundraiser that will be held on Wednesday, October 20th.
Why Purple Pinkie?
On Wednesday, October 20th, Dunkin’ locations in Tennessee & Mississippi are partnering with Rotary Districts 6760, 6780, & 6800 to host a fundraising event for End Polio Now. This year’s Purple Pinkie donuts will be $2.50 a donut or $25.00 per box of 10. Thanks to The Gates Foundation & The Rotary International Foundation, as well as our District 6800 Rotary Foundation, each $25 purchase will be matched up to 7.5 times, which equates to $187.50 in donations for End Polio Now!. The success of this program is driven by Rotarians who pre-order 10 count boxes of “Pinkies”. In the first 3 years, the Purple Pinkie Donut Project has generated more than $2,000,000 in donations!
Last year District 6800 sold over $15,000 worth of donuts. This turned into over $100,000 thanks to the generous donation match! This year, we are asking every club to participate and we are setting our goal at $25,000! That’s 1,000 boxes of “Pinkies” and at least 1,000 opportunities to spread the message about Rotary and End Polio Now in our communities!
This is a great opportunity to collaborate with your club and do some outreach in your community. You can donate boxes to your local educators, healthcare workers, emergency responders, nursing homes, & other non-profit organizations! This is a perfect time to thank them for their service, and spread the word about our efforts to eradicate Polio. Plus, we can invite them to learn more about Rotary! Each club has been given personalized postcards to distribute with each box. This postcard will include your meeting day(s) & time(s) and space for you to enter a personal message or a good point of contact for future members!
How to Order?
The pre-order website is “live” and accepting orders now. The cutoff deadline is Wednesday, October 13th. https://www.purplepinkiedonuts.org/ Pre-orders will be accepted through Wednesday, October 13th or 1 week before Dunkin’ Purple Pinkie Day. Don’t want donuts, but still want to donate? No problem! Use the link above to make a donation.
In an effort to reduce cash handling errors at the store(s) and the wait time required to collect from other Dunkin’ franchises, this year we are strongly encouraging clubs to submit consolidated club orders. With that being said, please coordinate within your local club to place your orders. Each club president has been given a Club Group Order Form to submit after all orders have been taken. Please communicate within your club to place your order(s). Please DO NOT mail checks directly to the Rotary Foundation.
Paul Harris Fellow and Eradicator Club Recognition:
Rotarians who participate in The Purple Pinkie Donut Project using the website above or purchasing through their club will receive Paul Harris Fellow and Eradicator Club recognition for their contributions. We can only track pre-orders. This is in part to encourage pre-orders, but also because orders placed at store locations are “rolled up” and much of the necessary detail is lost. If you wish to receive credit and do not pre-order, keep receipts and documentation and report that information to your club president and foundation chair.
We CAN and WILL eradicate Polio with your help!
